Search Kentucky Corrections Releases

To find someone released from the Kentucky Department of Corrections, search the statewide offender record rather than a Hardin County jail roster. Kentucky corrections release records can follow a sentenced offender through a state institution, an approved county jail, parole, community supervision, and discharge. Hardin County matters because state offenders may be housed at its detention center or supervised through the local district office. KOOL and the dated Daily Releases archive serve different roles. Reading both, with the court case when needed, helps distinguish an expected date, an actual departure, a transfer, and the end of supervision.

Kentucky Corrections Release Paths

KDOC manages sentenced offenders in state institutions and can track state prisoners placed in approved county jails. No adult KDOC prison was identified inside Hardin County, but a person sentenced in Hardin Circuit Court may serve elsewhere. Hardin County Detention Center can also hold a state offender. Search by the person and DOC number, not just by a facility name.

A physical departure can lead to parole, mandatory reentry supervision, final discharge, or another custodial placement. Parole is conditional release approved by the Kentucky Parole Board. Mandatory reentry supervision is a statutory release path for qualifying people and is treated as parole, but it is not the same as a discretionary grant. Discharge generally means the correctional sentence or supervision ended. A move between institutions or sovereigns remains custody.

Search Kentucky Corrections Releases

The Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, known as KOOL, is the person-centered route. It covers KDOC data, including incarcerated people, community supervision, and some state offenders in county jails. It is not a complete archive of everyone booked in Hardin County. Entries are updated daily, but KDOC warns that recent offender data may not yet be finalized.

  1. Search by full name, then add the DOC or PID number when known.
  2. Use a broad offender type so a supervised or historical record is not excluded.
  3. Match aliases, physical details, offense data, conviction county, and identifiers.
  4. Read every sentence, location, supervision, parole, and date field together.
  5. Compare an actual departure with the dated Daily Releases file and court case.

KOOL Advanced Search includes supervision status, county of supervision, conviction county, location, offense information, abscond date, and a “Projected Release Date From / To” range. Avoid filtering only for Hardin County. A transfer or release may remove that current location even though the offender record remains relevant.

A projected date or parole eligibility date is not an actual release event. Keep the displayed label, sentence block, and retrieval date together.

KDOC Daily Hardin Releases

The KDOC Daily Releases archive is a rare affirmative state source. Dated PDFs preserve releases across years. Reviewed files contain DOC number, last name, first name, middle name, type of release, and institution. The institution can be a state prison or a county detention center, including Hardin County when it releases a state offender.

Open each likely date and search by DOC number first. A name alone can match the wrong person. Search “Hardin County Detention Center” to find state-offender departures from that institution, then compare KOOL. The archive is bounded. It does not include each local pretrial bond-out, dismissal, or misdemeanor departure from the county jail. A blank file or missing name cannot prove that a local detainee stayed in custody.

Note: Daily Releases supplies the actual published date and type, while KOOL supplies the broader sentence and supervision context.

Kentucky Corrections Date Records

A KOOL detail can carry several dates with different legal purposes. “Expected Time To Serve” is not interchangeable with “Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date (Good Time Release Date).” “Parole Eligibility Date” marks when Board consideration may arise. “Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date” is another calculation. A parole table may show a hearing date, action, months deferred, next eligibility, or proposed release date. None should be shortened to one generic release date.

Parole eligibility
The point when the Board may consider parole, not a promise.
Proposed release
A planned date that still requires later confirmation.
Good-time date
A sentence calculation affected by lawful credits and later events.
Actual release
The historical custody departure after processing occurs.
Discharge
The end of the correctional term or supervision.

KRS 197.045 governs state sentence credits, including approved program and good-behavior provisions, forfeiture, and category limits. For qualified state prisoners in county jails, 501 KAR 2:060 links specified credits to the state framework. Neither authority creates one simple rule for every local detainee.

Hardin County Supervision Records

Kentucky separates decision-making from field supervision. The Kentucky Parole Board decides parole matters. KDOC's Division of Probation and Parole maintains district contacts and supervises people in the community. A hearing schedule or eligibility list is prospective. It does not prove that the person left custody.

KOOL may show supervision type, begin and end dates, and the assigned district. District 5 serves Hardin County from 207 South Mulberry Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701, at 270-766-5073 or 270-766-5074. Supply the DOC number for a focused status question. Hardin County's CAMS Probation Monitoring is a separate local court-compliance program and should not be treated as KDOC parole.

An “ABSCONDED” entry describes a recorded supervision issue, not discharge. Dynamic status should be confirmed with District 5. Board actions such as deferred, serve out, declined parole, or parole recommended also need their exact context. A recommendation can lead to later processing but does not prove a physical departure.

Request Kentucky Discharge Records

When KOOL and the release PDF do not answer the question, direct a focused open-records request to KDOC rather than Hardin County. Identify the offender by full name and DOC number. Name the sentence and suspected date. Request the existing release or discharge record, custody movement, and supervision status fields needed to resolve the event. Ask for electronic copies and allow lawful redaction.

The court file remains the source for the judgment that created or changed the sentence. Search the Kentucky public court record and obtain the signed order from the clerk if the legal effect matters. The Hardin County released inmate search explains the separate jail path for a local detainee whose event never entered KDOC data.

Record correction follows the custodian. KDOC addresses KOOL calculation, identity, and supervision data. The Hardin County Detention Center addresses its own custody time. The court clerk addresses a disposition or order. VINE and its source agency address alert data. A state offender housed at the county jail may create records in all four places, so one correction request will not necessarily update every system.
